Land Transfer Tax is payable to the government when you purchase a property. The amount paid depends on the value of your property. If you are a first-time home buyer, there is a rebate available to reduce the impact of your land transfer tax. If you live outside Toronto, first-time buyers may be eligible for a rebate of the provincial and municipal land transfer taxes, to a maximum of $4,000 and $8,475 if you live in Toronto.
